The Stanitsa was founded in 1951 by the late Colonel Mikhail Alekseevich Taratuchin,
Kuban Cossack who was asked by the then Kuban Ataman General Vyatcheslav Naumenko
and the famous poet Colonel Nikolai Turoverov (a Don Cossack who was in charge of the
Cossack Union in Paris) to organise Cossacks in the UK into stanitsas/organisations.
The London Stanitsa is the last surviving organisation in the UK. For the tenth consecutive
year, we are raising funds for the Romanov Fund for Russia (Registered Charity No 1037622).
